The generation before this (V7 iii) had the 750 and is a good solid bike. The first of the new V7 series also had the 750 motor, but the later versions are a bit more refined (not a word normally associated with Moto Guzzi). So, I'd opt for at least a V7 ii and probably V7 iii if I couldn't afford the 850cc version of the V7.
