Heart Rate Monitoring stopped working. Indrajeet over 4 years ago. Garmin 245 is barely one month old and since yesterday HR monitor has stopped working. In HR widget, I see only three dash instead of reading ---. I have checked all settings- HR recording is on. Activity tracking is on. I switched these on/off to see if this revives HR. No result. Had the HRM Run, after 9 months it died so got a warranty replacement/upgrade to the HRM Pro, about a year later it died. Chatted with support a few days ago and because I already had a warranty replacement they sold me an HRM Pro Plus (whatever the new one is) for $70… hoping it lasts more than a year. The Garmin HRM-Pro Plus only launched last year, and it seems quite soon for the company to be releasing a whole new chest strap. It might have developed a new electrical heart rate sensor (after all, the HRM-Pro Plus was only a very minor iteration on the HRM-Pro), or it could be something quite different.

Try first to redo completely the pairing process. If that does not work, ask a friend if you can borrow his working HRM. Then try to pair his HRM to your own watch or bike computer. If it is still not working, it is likely that the problem comes from your watch rather than from your Garmin heart rate monitor.

After working fine for many months, it suddenly stopped working mid-training. I figured it was out of battery, so I replaced the battery - and it worked for maybe 5 minutes and then dropped out again. I was unable to connect it again. I took it apart, replaced the battery (unsure if I might have put in an old battery). Still same issue.
polar HR 10 vs Garmin HRM pro. Please give your valuable feedback for chest HR device for runners. Polar H10 has a strong advantage that the strap itself is detachable from the sensor and can be replaced. I find that after a year or so the textile strap loses elasticity and becomes less comfortable and less reliable.
